IACO 2015 ANNUAL MEETINGS, LUANDA, ANGOLA
"FOCUSING ON GENDER AND YOUTH IN AFRICA'S COFFEE INDUSTRY"
The 2015 Annual Meetings of the INTERAFRICANCOFFEE ORGANISATION (IACO) are currently taking place in the Conference Room of Talatona HOTEL of, Republic of Angola. They were opened on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, by the Chairperson of the Organisation, Mr Afonso Pedro CANGA, Angolan Minister of Agriculture.
A series of speeches were delivered during the opening ceremony which was preceded on Monday, November 23, 2015, by the 11th Biennial General Assembly of the African Coffee Research Network (ACRN) and the Completed Projects Results Dissemination Workshop over recent years and, as a prelude to the 3rd African Coffee Symposium.
In their interventions, Sirs Graciano Domingo, Governor of the Province of Luanda, Anselme Gouton, Chairman of the Agency for Robusta Coffees of Africa and Madagascar (ACRAM), KAMBALE Kamungele, Member of the Board of Directors of the African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA), Roberio SILVA, Executive Director of the International Coffee Organisation (OIC), Frederick KAWUMA, IACO Secretary General, HE Mrs Rhoda PEACE, Commissioner for Agriculture of African Union and the Country-Representative of ADB President, have unanimously expressed the key role played by Women and Youth in the coffee industry of Africa.
To this extent, IACO Secretary General has insisted on the establishment of a Special Fund for the Development of African Coffee that will be kept in the African Development Bank (ADB) to encourage and support Women and Youth in Agri -Business.
The works will end on Thursday, November 27, 2015 by IACO 55th Annual General Assembly.
